Season 1 Winner of Australian Idol 2003 Guy Sebastian:

There’s no doubt that Guy Sebastian has done great things, whether you’re a die-hard Guy supporter or believe Shannon Knoll was wrongly stripped of the championship. Guy Sebastian has received no less than 51 platinum certifications since being named the first Australian Idol, performing at Eurovision, and winning four ARIA Awards. Guys Sebastian last season as coach of the voice Australia series. Do follow Guy Sebastian’s Facebook page for more updates.

Season 2 Winner of Australian Idol 2004 Casey Donovan:

The youngest actress to do so is Casey Donovan, who won Australian Idol season 2 at the age of 16. She made the decision to start his own business and build a solo career after Idol. At the time they were one of Australia’s most promising local acts but failed to match Sebastian’s chart success. Do follow Casey Donovan’s Facebook page for more updates.

Season 3 Winner of Australian Idol 2005 Kate DeAraugo:

Unfortunately, Kate De Araugo is not one of Idol’s success stories. Their debut album debuted at number 10 on the ARIA chart and stayed in the top 50 for eight weeks. Although the band received several platinum records, Young Divas disbanded in 2008 after joining. Do follow Kate DeAraugo Facebook page for more updates.

Season 4 Winner of Australian Idol 2006 Damien Leith:

Over the past 10 years, Damien Leith has built a very successful career after beating the beautiful Jess Mauboy to the top of the year. He’s a jack of all trades who has written two novels, released eight albums, received seven platinum certifications, and is currently on tour to celebrate the tenth anniversary of his live CD The Winner’s Journey. Do follow Damien Leith’s Facebook page for more updates.

Season 5 Winner of Australian Idol 2007 Natalie Gauci:

Another winner never advanced to second place. In Season 5, Natalie beat Matt Corby and has been pretty quiet ever since. In 2009, he left Sony and formed the electro-pop duo Tune In Tokyo with producer Paul Brandoli. Like DeAraugo, he discussed drug use after 15 minutes of his fame. Do follow Natalie Gauci’s Facebook page for more updates.

Season 6 Winner of Australian Idol 2008 Wes Carr:

After releasing The Way, The World Looks, his second album for Sony, in 2009, Wes Carr disappeared from the public eye. In 2011 he split from the label and became self-employed. The following year he went under the alias Buffalo Tales and released an EP entitled Blood & Bone. Do follow Wes Carr’s Facebook page for more updates.

Season 7 Winner of Australian Idol 2009 Stan Walker:

Another idol success story, at least in New Zealand, is Stan Walker, who, like Sebastian, has released hit singles and was a judge on The X Factor. A mainstay of the New Zealand music scene, he has dabbled in acting, starring in the films Kiwi Born to Dance and Mount Zion. Do follow Stan Walker’s Facebook page for more updates.
